Day 1: Arusha Town – Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, we will begin the 130km journey from Arusha to Lake Manyara, where a great number of animals have found a home. It is in this park where you can find lions, occasionally relaxed in trees, and a great number of elephants. The lake has also attracted a diverse species of aquatic birds with flamingoes being in great number here. We will aim to arrive at the park at around 11:30am and begin the game viewing immediately. Our experienced guides will explore more of the park and wildlife after lunch, making the most of the time available. We will then begin our journey to Karatu in the early evening, where you will have dinner and overnight in Ngorongoro Kudu Lodge and campsite or a similar hotel.

Day 2: Karatu/Ngorongoro highlands – Serengeti National Park

Distance: 205kms

We begin our long drive to Serengeti National Park after breakfast, and go via the Ngorongoro conservation area. It is in the Serengeti where wildebeest begin their annual migration once their little ones have grown enough to run, and at the time when food becomes scarce. We will travel through to the central part of the park which is very rich in habitat and biodiversity due to the location of the Seronera River, a permanent source of water for wildlife. You will have dinner and stay overnight at Serengeti Seronera campsite.

Day 3: Serengeti to the northern part

After breakfast, we will begin to trace the wildebeest in their migration, leading us to drive towards the north. It will be a full day’s game drive with a lunch break and plenty to see. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Lobo campsite.

Day 4: Serengeti Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Travel time: 3 hours

Distance: 145kms

This tour takes you through historic places where traces of early man can be found.  Our history can be traced at Olduvai Gorge, where skulls of early men are preserved. You will get to visit these places with historical and paleontological value on your way to Ngorongoro, where you will have dinner and stay overnight at Simba campsite.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Arusha

After breakfast, you will get to descend 600m down the crater for some more game viewing. Here, animals such as black rhino, elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, wildebeest and others have made a home for themselves. Flamingoes and other water birds can be seen at Lake Magadi in the Southwestern corner of the park. After your evening game drive, we will begin the drive back to Arusha for dinner and overnight. The next day we will collect you from your hotel and transfer to the airport for your journey home.
